2002-06-01 - 12:02 a.m. BRETT HAMIL REVIEWS SEATTLE ART MUSEUM my girlfriend and i went to the Seattle art museum today, i saw some neat stuff--they had a john currin painting that i liked (tho i'm sure he's just as smug and ironic as the rest, at least he really paints) also a bunch of morris graves, a very nice hockney portrait in pencil, archipenko sculpture, some other stuff, a guston that was kinda neat.... then of course they had the one obligatory shite art pc, some dumb bitch videotaped herself putting on makeup in front of a two-way mirror every night before she went to work as a waitress for like a month and then played it back on two video monitors facing each other--of course the monitors were decorated with fake roses to drive the laborious and insultingly tedious idea home--real fucking deep. what are these curators thinking? are they really so blinded by the boringly obvious and mundane? yes they are. no doubt about it.
